I get they are trying to get you to subscribe through them so they can make a buck but there should be a point when the algorithm just gives up and says "I will no longer pester them with stuff they do not own nor want." I hope/wish Google will put a way to turn off recommendations from services you do not have so you can only receive recommendations for the ones you do have. I do not own a slingshot account so why am I seeing recommendations from Slingshot. I do not have an HBO/max account so why are you forcing it on my screen. First off is the content recommendation that is forced down your throat. There are two things I hate the most about CCwGTV.
Again not Google's fault since they do not control the quality check department of these guys. For now, you can use Movies anywhere and get the UHD/HDR going but even still, I cannot get my atmos through those guys either. I am sure everyone is giving them an earful right now over this and I hope this gets fixed. The biggest disappointment for me and it really isn't Google's fault is VUDU still hasn't fixed their UHD/atmos issues yet. Not really wanting to sideload out of laziness. What I am really looking forward to is the official STADIA life.
CHROMECAST GOOGLE TV REVIEW 720P
I know upscale isn't as glorious as real 4k but man I have anime that is 720p that is upscaled to 4k running now. Cue the whomp whomp whomp trumpet music, 1080p. Hooked it back up and fired up the same movie. I went and retrieved the only Roku streaming 4k stick+ I had left in the house after the eBay purge. Then I was like, hold up my Roku never did this.

Needless to say, like any good father would have done, I interrupted my kids' movie and pulled up other movies I knew wasn't 4k and sure enough, I was like heck yeah. I have never seen that before since I have long retired my Bluray players. On my info box on my tv, it said 2160 (4k).
I hit info on my remote and it was like I just tasted the most epic piece of bacon ever.
My kids wanted to watch "A Knight's Tale" one day and I put in left the room I came back and I was like man that pic looks funny but in an awesome kind-of-way funny. The biggest surprise for me was the upscaling function of the CCwGTV. I could be wrong and I hope I am wrong so if anyone knows if there is a way then leave me a comment about this. The only shortcoming I can see about the watchlist is that google doesn't provide a break down by genre that I can see. Think Lord of The Rings, "One ring to rule them all." I am finding myself when I am bored at times going into my watchlists in my individual services and slowly merging them over with Google's. My Roku didn't deliver this and they were always quick to point the finger at Netflix, but yet their newest versions of the device coming up will support DDvision and Atmos, this just screams to me "we want you to spend more money" cooperate greed and environmental electronic waste.Ī nice surprise for me and my favorite thing is the watchlist CCGTV has.

ATMOS plus Vision is great and it works with Netflix and Amazon Prime, this was my main reason for wanting a device outside of Nividia shield and apple TV. Simply put, the bang-for-the-buck value of the CCGTV is off the charts. I have seen too many reviews on people blinded about the CCwTV Koolaid awesomeness and not enough real truth.įirst off I will tell you this, I have replaced all my streaming devices in my house with this device and yes it is that good. So, I have owned a Chromecast with Google TV (CCGTV or CCwGTV) now for close to a month now and I am ready to give a real user's opinion.
